Feds admit storing checkpoint body scan images

US military, intelligence agencies press attack against Wikileaks

Jacob Appelbaum, a 27-year-old software developer from the Seattle area, said he was taken aside by ICE agents as he returned through Newark, New Jersey from an overseas trip. He was questioned for three hours about his relations with Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange, and his opinions on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. His laptop computer and three cell phones were seized, although the laptop was later returned, presumably after its contents were copied.

Appelbaum told the press that the ICE agents refused to allow him access to a lawyer during the interrogation, and threatened a similar detention for questioning any time he travels abroad, which he does regularly for his job developing software to improve online privacy.

Video footage of a four-year-old child begging Israeli forces to release his father from detention on Monday has circulated the globe.

"You dog, give me my dad. I want daddy. I want daddy. Give me my dad," cried Khalid Fadel Al-Ja’bari, as Israeli border guards detained his father Fadel, 36 in the Al-Baq'a village east of Hebron, where Israel's Civil Administration began destroying what it described as an illegal water irrigation network.

IDF official says Hamas did not fire rocket that "justified" Israeli air strikes across Gaza

Israeli Rabbi Preaches “Slaughter” of Gentile Babies

Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira is one of the leading ideologues of the most extreme wing of the religious settler movement. He is known to be a champion of the “price-tag” policy of reprisal attacks on Palestinians, including punishing them for attempts by officials to enforce Israeli law against the settlements.

So far the policy has chiefly involved violent harassment of Palestinians, with settlers inflicting beatings, attacking homes, throwing stones, burning fields, killing livestock and poisoning wells.

It is feared, however, that Shapira’s book The King’s Torah, published last year, is intended to offer ideological justifications for widening the scope of such attacks to include killing Palestinians, even children.

Although Shapira was released a few hours after his questioning last Monday, dozens of rabbis, as well as several members of parliament, rallied to his side, condemning the arrest.

UN panel to fully investigate Gaza flotilla incident

The panel is headed by former New Zealand prime minister Geoffrey Palmer and outgoing President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia, who will co- chair the investigation. An Israeli and a Turkish official will also join the panel.

In 2003, the Israeli Army built just such a fence/wall in the occupied West Bank village of Jayyus. Today, more than 100 farmers are unable to access their farmland and, thus, have essentially lost their livelihood, as many rely solely on their olive, citrus and other trees for income. More than 50 percent of West Bank residents live below the poverty line, with some 26 percent living in extreme poverty. While the fence/wall was being built, the Israeli Army promised the villagers free access to their land. They are not following through on this promise, as only 18-20 percent of Jayyus farmers have been granted permits to access their land. Obtaining a permit is time consuming and expensive and, thus, prohibitive for many.

Making Gaza a 'European ghetto'

The proposal, recently leaked to the Israeli press, does not amount to freeing Gaza but rather to placing it under European sea and land inspections and a reconstruction plan.

If implemented, it will permanently sever the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, transforming the Strip into an internationally supervised ghetto - with the dual purpose of ensuring Israeli security and reigning in the Palestinian population.

The isolation of Gaza would further undermine the vision of a contiguous Palestinian state or any form of equitable coexistence between Palestinians and Israelis. It would also divide those families with members in the West Bank, creating a permanent schism in Palestinian society and deepening the sense of fragmentation.

Hamas would effectively be ruling a development project with no meaningful ties to the rest of the Palestinian people.
