Torture and rape stalk the streets of Chechnya

by element115
Blowing people up, dead or alive, she reports, is the latest tactic introduced by the federal army into the conflict. It was utilised perhaps most effectively on 3 July in the village of Meskyer Yurt, where 21 men, women and children were bound together and blown up, their remains thrown into a ditch.
From the perspective of the perpetrators, this method of killing is highly practical; it prevents the number of bodies from being counted, or possibly from ever being found. Meanwhile, the more traditional methods endure. On 9 September the bodies of six men from Krasnostepnovskoye were found, naked, with plastic bags wrapped around their heads. In June, a ditch containing 50 mutilated bodies was discovered near the Russian army post in Chankala. The corpses were missing eyes, ears, limbs and genitals. Since February, mass graves have been found near Grozny, Chechen Yurt, Alkhan-Kala and Argun.

In a letter to the Israeli defence minister, Shaul Mofaz, published on Tuesday, the rabbis said killing enemy civilians is "normal" during the time of war and that the Israeli occupation army should never hesitate to kill non-Jewish civilians in order to save Jewish lives. The rabbis quoted a Talmudic edict, or religious ruling, stating that "our lives come first. The Christian preaching of 'turning the other cheek' doesn't concern us."

On Sunday, the military placed Ms Fahima in detention without trial using a law applied to thousands of Palestinians over the past four years of intifada but rarely to Israelis.
The authorities declined to reveal the precise reasons but the defence minister, Shaul Mofaz, who signed the order, described her as "a clear and present danger to all Israelis".

Moore proposed that Congress give Israel 30 days to end the bloodshed taking place in its name, and if Israel does not do so, funding to Israel should be cut. He had some suggestions for preventing suicide terrorists. "Hey, here's a way to stop suicide bombings - give the Palestinians a bunch of missile-firing Apache helicopters and let them and the Israelis go at each other head to head. Four billion dollars a year to Israel - four billion dollars a year to the Palestinians."

Ashcroft's plan, disclosed last week but little publicized, would allow him to order the indefinite incarceration of U.S. citizens and summarily strip them of their constitutional rights and access to the courts by declaring them enemy combatants.

Summer Of Truth - 2004

by element115
What really happened on 9/11/01? Why did the U.S. chain of command go missing? Why no air defense response? What about early warnings from foreign governments? Who financed the attacks? The U.S. government never answered these questions. The 9/11 Commission Report" ignores most of the real questions and spins the few answers it provides. The report's omissions consistently avoid bodies of evidence pointing to a circle of complicity within the U.S. government and its covert agencies. Now researchers and activists are compelled to make their case directly to the public.
