ElBaradei said there was now "lots of speculation" about an Iranian drive to nuclear weapons capability. But "we try to work on the basis of facts," he said. And the facts, he said in response to a question from the Post, were that "we haven't seen a smoking gun in Iran. We haven't seen an underground production enrichment facility. We haven't seen enough materials in Iran, other than gram quantities, to put into a weapon."

A frightening "Strategy for Israel"

by element115
Oded Yinon, who was attached to Israel's Foreign Ministry, published his paper, titled "A Strategy for Israel in the 1980s," in Kivunim (Directions) a "journal for Judaism and Zionism."
The basic premises of the plan are these: In order to survive Israel must become an imperial regional power and must also ensure the break-up of all Arab countries so that the region may be carved up into small ineffectual states unequipped to stand up to Israeli military might.

Yinon described the Arab-Muslim world as "a temporary house of cards put together by foreigners and arbitrarily divided into states, all made up of combinations of minorities and ethnic groups which are hostile to one another."

"The dissolution of Syria and Iraq later on into ethnically or religiously unique areas such as in Lebanon is Israel's primary target in the long run, while the dissolution of the military power of those states serves as the primary short term target," he writes.

"Iraq, rich in oil on the one hand and internally torn on the other, is guaranteed as a candidate for Israel's targets," says Yinon.

"Arab states should be challenged as "police states" lacking legitimacy."

Remember that Yinon's paper was penned in 1982.

Condoleeza Rice had said the same thing in mind, telling senior members of the National Security Council to "think about 'how do you capitalize on these opportunities' to fundamentally change...the shape of the world." Humans are pigs

December 1, 2005 by element115
...on some occasions interesting findings emerge which parallel human issues.

It appears that just as social status is something that many humans strive for, it is also something that has a large impact on the quality of life of pigs!

Behavioural recordings showed that pigs are highly social animals that maintain fairly rigid social classes within their groups. For pigs at the bottom of the heap, low social status means the daily drudgery of having to queue behind higher ranking animals for food, water and even lying space. These animals are also more likely to be 'bullied' by higher-ranking pigs, and, as a consequence, may become more stressed. Interestingly, it appears that the pigs that accept their low social status suffer from less stress than those that continually try to climb the social ladder!
