US deploys aircraft carrier to South Korea

July 19, 2010 by element115
The carrier was expected to be in South Korea's port of Busan by Wednesday and could participate in an upcoming military exercise.

The nuclear powered carrier, one of the world's largest warships, will be accompanied by three destroyers — the McCampbell, the John S. McCain and the Lassen.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton were expected to announce more details this week about the upcoming joint military exercise. Gates and Clinton were visiting Seoul to meet with their South Korean counterparts.

Iran slams global agencies as US instruments

by element115
"The unfair and unjust power structure in the international arena has led to the instrumental use of the specialised international bodies; a situation detrimental to the present and future of mankind," Larijani told the World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments meeting in Geneva.

Pointing to terrorist attacks such as the twin suicide bombings at a Shiite mosque in southeast Iran last week, Larijani blamed world powers for the failure of international organisations to bring about peace and stability.

Fidel Castro returns to TV with dire warning of nuclear conflict

July 12, 2010 by element115
The Middle East is on the verge of a nuclear war triggered by a US attack on Iran in the name of preventing the country from developing its own weapons, according to ageing Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro.

"To do this on the basis of a calculation that the Iranians are going to come running out to ask the Yankees for forgiveness is absurd," Castro said. "They [the US] will encounter a terrible resistance that will spread the conflict that cannot end up any other way than turning nuclear."

The former Cuban president said Israel would throw the first bomb...

"The control that Israel has over the United States is enormous."

"US foreign policy is better described as the policy of total impunity."

...and of course, the mass media will inform us that we shouldn't pay any attention to a crazy, old guy who's been the enemy forever anyway.

Israeli Military Finds Flotilla Killings Justified

by element115
An Israeli military investigation into its naval takeover of a Gaza-bound flotilla six weeks ago found that it was plagued by errors of planning, intelligence and coordination but the killings of nine Turks on board were justified, according to an official summary of the findings released Monday.

The investigators praised the commandos who rappelled onto the main ship from helicopters, saying that they “operated properly, with professionalism, bravery and resourcefulness.” They called the use of live fire justified. No dismissals were publicly recommended, but officers said some demotions or dismissals might occur.

Opposition pushing for committee hearings on G20 security

by element115
Opposition MPs are trying to trigger parliamentary committee hearings into the street violence and allegations of police violations of civil rights during the G20 summit in Toronto.

But the government appears to oppose the plan.

We must keep insisting on thorough investigation of G20 attempt on human rights in Canada and also push for discussion on POLICE POWERS in Canada in general.
We must not lose our freedom.
We must show that we do not accept such a state of affairs.
We do have Rights.
Human Rights.
What we observed and experienced during G20 in Toronto was a TEST.
The question was "How will public and media(some) react?
Will people give up some of their rights?
Will public buy Oppression and Terror?
It was Experiment and Attempt.
Attempt on our Rights.
...and our Freedom.
We must voice our dissatisfaction.
We must hold hearings.

It's almost spiritual if you think about it.

Infinite Jest: State Terror From Nixon to Obama

by element115
As Arthur Silber pointed out so ably out the other day, the high and horrendous crimes that the world's governments will openly commit -- and admit to, if not brag about -- in their push for loot and power are by no means the full record of their depredations. This is, as Silber rightly says, "an absolute certainty given the testimony of history." Indeed. For while we look on, shocked and awed, at the public parade of horrors rolling by each day, there are foul deeds afoot which will only come to light -- in dribs and drabs, in shards and splinters --after many decades. (And of course this does not include the countless crimes of elitist power that will never surface, that lie forever buried and rotting with their victims.)

Ontario Amputee Has His Artificial Leg Ripped Off By Police And Is Slammed In Makeshift Cell During G20 Summit

Accusing him of resisting arrest, they pulled his walking sticks away from him, tied his hands behind his back and ripped off his prosthetic leg. Then they told him to get up and hop, and when he said he couldn’t, they dragged him across the pavement, tearing skin off his elbows , with his hands still tied behind his back. His glasses were knocked off as they continued to accuse him of resisting arrest and of being a “spitter,” something he said he did not do. They took him to a warehouse and locked him in a steel-mesh cage where his nightmare continued for another 27 hours.

G20 reporters filed complaints to police watchdog

by element115
According to Miller's complaint --> "So you think you're a journalist. You won't be a journalist after we bring you to jail," the 29-year-old recounted an officer saying to her in her complaint. "You're going to be raped. We always like the pretty ones. We're going to wipe the grin off your face when we gang bang you. We know how the Montreal girls roll."

According to Rosenfeld's complaint --> grabbed by two officers, punched in the stomach and back and repeatedly kneed in the ribs. He yelled to them that he was not resisting arrest and that he was a journalist. He was arrested for breach of the peace and taken to the detention centre in the city's east end at midnight where he stayed until his release 18 hours later with no charges.

According to Lisa Walter's complaint --> officers mocked her, saying her credentials were "fake," questioned whether she was a man and the sergeant who ordered her arrest called her a "f---ing dyke" and "a douche bag." Her medication was withheld from her for several hours.

Police mislead public on security fence law

by element115
Toronto's police chief is admitting there never was a five-meter rule that had people fearing arrest if they strayed too close to the G20 security perimeter.

Ontario won't call public inquiry into G20 chaos

But Ontario’s New Democrats say there are “far more questions than there are answers”.

“It’s unbelievable so many crimes could be committed in the presence of so many police officers,” said New Democrat MPP and justice critic Peter Kormos, referring to the “black bloc” protesters who ran amok despite a security tab of almost $1 billion.

An inquiry should make Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair “come clean” on what went wrong, Kormos added. “Who was calling the shots?”

The Reality Of Zionism

by element115
The accusation of ‘The Jews being scapegoated again’ is not only tiresome, but pathetic. In fact, it is not only pathetic, but pathologically disturbed, and clinically insane, as evidenced by the recent suicide (murder?) of Netanyahu’s psychiatrist who simply couldn’t take the Zionist rhetoric and propaganda anymore.
Anybody who is cognizant of the Palestinian plight, and who is educated about Zionism, does not need to hear the equally tiresome discourse of criticism of Israel, or Zionism, or Zionist organizations is tantamount to an attack on the Jews. Israel Shahak (RIP), Ilan Pappe, Joel Kovel, Gilad Atzmon, Michael Hoffman, Norman Finklestein, and Stephen Lendman all vehemently criticize Israel, Zionism, Zionist organizations, and Israeli policies, and they are all Jewish, some are also Israeli. Anti-Zionism does not equal Anti-Semitism, and the repetition of this is getting as old as the accusation itself. Anyone that charges a critic of Israel with anti-Semitism is simply displaying an exuberant amount of cowardice, lack of knowledge, and subservience to the Zionist entity.

Who Does Israel Get Oil From?

by element115
Last month the Swiss foreign minister visited Iran and, together with President Ahmadinejad, attended the signing of a multi-billion euro contract for Iran to supply Switzerland with large amounts of natural gas over the next 25 years.
The US State Department immediately condemned the deal and said it would be investigating whether it breached the Iran Sanctions Act. Israel complained too, describing the Swiss minister's visit to Tehran as an "act unfriendly to Israel". Various Jewish groups also joined in the protests, including the World Jewish Congress.
This righteous indignation was entirely predictable but more than a little odd nevertheless. On March 30, the Swiss newspaper Sonntag retaliated with the revelation that Israel, supposedly observing an ironclad boycott of all things Iranian, has been buying Iranian oil for years.

The reason no other oil driller wants it known, is that they may own the next blowout and will also want to conceal their true obligations.
