Red Cross demands action on cluster bombs

The International Committee of the Red Cross called on all states to ban immediately the use of "inaccurate and unreliable" cluster bombs, responsible for killing and maiming countless civilians.

Israeli troops kill two Palestinian women

The dramatic events came on the third day of an Israeli assault on the Gaza town of Beit Hanoun

...around 50 Palestinian women, all of them veiled, marched towards the mosque en masse.

Israeli forces opened fire towards the mosque and two of the women were killed. Six others were wounded.

Israel said: women were "attempting to act as a human shield" against the Israeli troops.

Palestinian unity gov't to be announced within 48 hours

According to the report, all outstanding issues between Hamas and Fatah have been resolved, with the exception of who will be the next Palestinian prime minister.

The prime minister will not be a member of Hamas, although Hamas is demanding that the candidate be affiliated with the group, as first reported in Haaretz. Abbas wants the prime minister to be entirely independent.
