The Enemy Amongst Us

by element115
...don’t think of AIPAC as an official Political Action Committee or PAC, subject to the same US federal laws and regulations a PAC is. Think of AIPAC as an unofficial political action committee not subject to these laws and regulations. Think of it as the single most powerful and influential political lobby group in existence in the United States. Understand that this was born out of the American Zionist Council which in 1951 was registered as a foreign agent for Israel. It spawned the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs before being crunched into the obscure acronym it is now. Understand also that if you want to be elected to any federal position of relevance in the country, you will need its blessing. All of the major politicians in the US government have courted AIPAC and the interests that group represents.

Zero Point of Systemic Collapse

March 19, 2010 by element115
All resistance must recognize that the body politic and global capitalism are dead. We should stop wasting energy trying to reform or appeal to it. This does not mean the end of resistance, but it does mean very different forms of resistance. It means turning our energies toward building sustainable communities to weather the coming crisis, since we will be unable to survive and resist without a cooperative effort.

We stand on the cusp of one of the bleakest periods in human history when the bright lights of a civilization blink out and we will descend for decades, if not centuries, into barbarity. The elites have successfully convinced us that we no longer have the capacity to understand the revealed truths presented before us or to fight back against the chaos caused by economic and environmental catastrophe. As long as the mass of bewildered and frightened people, fed images that permit them to perpetually hallucinate, exist in this state of barbarism, they may periodically strike out with a blind fury against increased state repression, widespread poverty and food shortages. But they will lack the ability and self-confidence to challenge in big and small ways the structures of control. The fantasy of widespread popular revolts and mass movements breaking the hegemony of the corporate state is just that – a fantasy.

ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDER HINTS AT BIN LADEN DEATH

by element115
Last month I was briefed by the highest sources of the Pakistani military. One of our more private discussions was on bin Laden. I know, we know and they know he is dead. Nobody has seen nor heard from bin Laden since he announced HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. However, a series of sadly phony videos and audio tapes have been released, all tracked down to sources tied directly to Israeli intelligence services, have been presented by the media without any verification, a media, frankly, also tied directly as with FOX, ABC, NBC and CBS or as with CNN, through Wolf Blitzer, also to Israeli intelligence services.

Now, Attorney General Eric Holder has announced, in his own sly way that “bin Laden won’t face trial.” Holder knows something. He knows what they know in Israel, Afghanistan, Pakistan, France, Britain, Germany, Canada, Iran, India and so many other countries, something America has been afraid to admit.

A Prosthetic Leg at the Palestinian Auschwitz

March 18, 2010 by element115
Monday 14 March 2010 at quarter past nine in the morning at the Zionist Qalandiya checkpoint towards entry into Jerusalem, the gate of Auschwitz 2. A female Israeli Nazi soldier orders an invalid Palestinian girl to take off her pants in front of the crowd of Palestinians waiting at the checkpoint, thousands of waiting men and women. The girl had a prosthetic leg which was fixed with metal screw.
...the soldier turned into a fury and shouted into the face of the girl, who took off her shoes and put them into the electronic checking machine. However, the soldier continued screaming at girl and ordered it her to take off her pants. The female soldier did not allow the girl to take her pants off inside the check room of this second Auschwitz. Out of pure sadism, to satisfy her deep content, for the fun of demeaning and humiliating the girl, this woman insisted that the girl take off her pants in front of thousands of men and a women, instead of allowing the girl into the room which exists exactly for this purpose.

The Obama administration's row with Israel over settlements has prompted some analysts to wonder whether it seeks "regime change," a new government that can make peace with the Palestinians.

However, the analysts doubt that President Barack Obama's administration, which has made Arab-Israeli peace a national security priority, will achieve anything if it has indeed adopted such a strategy.

Decoding The Language Of Social Control

by element115
The management of today’s masses in the United States evolved out of the mechanisms for managing the natives that began with Christopher Columbus and the European Conquest of the Americas. Native and slave management in early colonial times evolved into race management after the Civil War, and then to the economic and social class management of the present day. The entire mentality of social control is that of colonialism.

The Rogue Nation

by element115
In spite of the fact that the United States faces no enemy anywhere in the world capable of opposing it on a battlefield, the Defense budget for 2011 will go up 7.1 percent from current levels. A lot of the new spending will be on drones, America’s latest contribution to western civilization, capable of surveilling large areas on the ground and delivering death from the skies. It is a peculiarly American vision of warfare, with a "pilot" sitting at a desk half a world away and pressing a button that can kill a target far below. Hygienic and mechanical, it is a bit like a video game with no messy cleanup afterwards. The recently released United States Quadrennial Defense Review reports how the Pentagon will be developing a new generation of super drones that can stay airborne for long periods of time and can strike anywhere in the world and at any time to kill America’s enemies.

“Palestinians Should Now Declare Their Independence”

by element115
There is very little the Palestinians can do to change their situation alone. They are virtually disarmed, with a few rockets and some stone-throwing kids, against the fourth most powerful army on earth. But international pressure – applied intelligently, without hyperbole – can strengthen their hand, and the Palestinians are considering a move that would catalyse it. They are considering a unilateral declaration of independence, and an appeal for the world to recognise them as a state. It wouldn’t cause the occupation to vanish – but it would make the situation plain for all to see. They are a people; they deserve a state, as much as the British or the Israelis. Netanyahu talks about the dangers of Israel being wiped from the map, yet Palestine is being wiped from the map every day by his tanks and his guns. Why should they have to “earn” their right to their own land by proving obedience to an abusive foreign power?

Israeli Officials: 50,000 New Settlement Homes Planned

by element115
Israel’s Monday announcement for 112 new settlement units in the West Bank hardly caused a stir, even as the nation’s settlement “freeze” is nominally still active. Yesterday’s announcement of an additional 1,600 settlement homes in occupied East Jerusalem garnered quite a bit of attention, however, and has thrown indirect peace talks into serious doubt.
But now even that announcement seems small by comparison, as Israeli planning officials say that they are planning another 50,000 new housing units in settlements, tackling a housing shortage in ultra-Orthodox settlements in and around East Jerusalem.

Humanity versus insanity

March 10, 2010 by element115
Recurring stories about Iran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons mostly come from an Israeli network of undercover operatives and an intelligence apparatus that reaches deeply into our government. Why does Israel want to hurt Iran and especially Ahmadinejad? Alone among world leaders he has been outspoken in calling for justice in Palestine, highlighting the suffering of its people and the maddening hypocrisy in making Palestinians pay for a European crime. Meanwhile, the USA, still smarting over losing its puppet ruler in the 1979 revolution , continues vindictively attempting to destroy the Islamic regime. It is the threat of imperial collapse more than control of oil that moves America into such easily manipulated desire for destroying Iran’s revolution, but Israel’s hatred is more malevolent and dangerous.

Calling All Rebels

There are no constraints left to halt America’s slide into a totalitarian capitalism. Electoral politics are a sham. The media have been debased and defanged by corporate owners. The working class has been impoverished and is now being plunged into profound despair. The legal system has been corrupted to serve corporate interests. Popular institutions, from labor unions to political parties, have been destroyed or emasculated by corporate power. And any form of protest, no matter how tepid, is blocked by an internal security apparatus that is starting to rival that of the East German secret police. The mounting anger and hatred, coursing through the bloodstream of the body politic, make violence and counter-violence inevitable. Brace yourself. The American empire is over. And the descent is going to be horrifying.

Funding Israeli Militarism, Belligerence and Occupation

by element115
From birth, Israel was a regional menace until America became its benefactor in the late 1960s. Now it's a global one, powerful with a large standing army and the latest weapons and technology, nuclear armed and ready to use them. It's belligerent on the slightest pretext or none at all, and a threat to world peace and security because US administrations since Lyndon Johnson supported a nation of 5.6 million Jews in an area the size of New Jersey, partnering in its worst crimes and abuses.

Palestine is full of heroes

by element115
Although people in our modern times have been educated to believe that having the 'right' ideas, methods or ideologies is what causes revolutions, history teaches us that drastic changes usually happen when the majority of the people rally behind a certain leader, more than behind an ideology. While Palestinian society continues to be torn apart by factional strife, and people increasingly see each other as adversaries based on differences of opinion or conviction, what they really need is not a new philosophy, but simply a truly charismatic leader.

Building international solidarity during Israeli Apartheid Week

by element115
In March 2005, a group of activists from the Arab Student Collective at the University of Toronto launched the first Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW). The aim of the week was two-fold. On one hand, it sought to break the wall of silence and misrepresentation around what was happening in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip at the time of the second Palestinian intifada. On the other hand, it aimed to situate direct military violence against Palestinians within the broader context of Israel's apartheid policies. Focusing on the broader system of Israeli apartheid allowed activists to link the construction of the Apartheid Wall in the occupied West Bank, settler violence and home demolitions to a broader system which systematically discriminated against the civil and political rights of Palestinian citizens in Israel, or 1948 Palestinians, and denied the right of return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland.

America's Permanent War Agenda

by element115
America glorifies wars in the name of peace, what historian Charles Beard (1874 - 1948) called "perpetual war for perpetual peace" in describing the Roosevelt and Truman administrations' foreign policies - what concerned the Federation of American Scientists when it catalogued about 200 post-1945 conflicts in which America was, and still is, the aggressor.

..."our rulers for more than half a century have made sure that we are never to be told the truth about anything that our government has done to other people, not to mention our own."
