The torture secrets are coming

October 20, 2014 by element115
The Obama administration is still fighting to keep the full truth about torture – including photos the public hasn't yet seen – from the American people. But recently the courts and the Senate have been pushing back, resisting the government's claims that it can't reveal its torture secrets. As a result, those secrets may finally be dragged into the light.

The government is holding back as many as 2,100 never-released images from Abu Ghraib and other detention centers overseas.

Study Links Soda To Premature Aging, Disease, Early Death

by element115
A new study looked at whether America’s thirst for soda speeds up how the body’s cells age.

Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco used a sample of 5300 healthy adults. Dr. Elissa Epel worked on the study for 5 years.

“This finding is alarming because it suggest that soda may be aging us, in ways we are not even aware of,” said Dr. Epel.

FBI Frames Muslim-American After He Refuses to Be an ‘Informant’

by element115
How does a non-violent man who once owned a store called “Nature’s Garden” and who founded a religious center that offered free meals and prayer services…end up in jail?

He is born half black, subscribes to Islam, and refuses to be an informant for the FBI.

Germany blames pro-Russian rebels for MH17 crash

by element115
Germany has blamed pro-Russian rebels for downing the Malaysia Airline MH17 plane with a rocket from a Buk missile defence system.

The BND foreign intelligence agency says separatists fired the device from a Ukrainian base which exploded directly next to the passenger aircraft.

It is the first time a European agency has openly pointed the finger at rebels, who have so far denied accusations.

Germany’s intel agency is (apparently) a branch of the CIA

by element115
The German BND is not an independent intelligent service but more like a CIA branch, Manuel Ochsenreiter, Editor-in-Chief of Zuerst magazine, told RT. Its so-called evidence on the MH17 tragedy is questionable and contradicting, he added.

Ebola, AIDS Manufactured by Western Pharmaceuticals, US DoD?

by element115
The reports continue and state that the DoD gave a contract worth $140 million dollars to Tekmira, a Canadian pharmaceutical company, to conduct Ebola research. This research work involved injecting and infusing healthy humans with the deadly Ebola virus. Hence, the DoD is listed as a collaborator in a “First in Human” Ebola clinical trial (NCT02041715, which started in January 2014 shortly before an Ebola epidemic was declared in West Africa in March. Disturbingly, many reports also conclude that the US government has a viral fever bioterrorism research laboratory in Kenema, a town at the epicentre of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

Wow, Hillary Clinton Really Can’t Stand Vladimir Putin. It’s Personal

by element115
This is very interesting. Speaking at a fundraiser in Las Vegas on Monday, Hillary Clinton ripped into Putin, and lectured Europeans on being too soft on him. Her remarks suggested a deep personal distaste for the man.

More than anyone else, Clinton is the author of the confrontational US approach to Russia, and the current debacle in Ukraine.

Under her watch as Secretary of State, from 2009 to 2013, the US steadily increased its anti-Russian line, and pushed for Ukraine to choose between Europe and Russia, plowing $5 billion into anti-Russian civil society groups in the Ukraine.

Ukraine Says ‘Yes’ to Russian Winter Discount Gas Offer

by element115
Here is – the net result of all the US and EU backed protests and killings in the Ukraine since last November and crippling US-led sanctions since April 2014.

Today it was announced that the Ukraine has confirmed an agreement on a Russian winter gas price, as the two countries are set to resume trade – exactly where they were last winter in 2013…

In light of Washington’s failure to enact anything other than chaos in the Ukraine, the world might ask the US State Department the following: was it really worth it, all the lost lives, the billions spent (and lost), demonizing Russia, a new Cold War, mutually harmful sanctions, supporting NeoNazi groups and the total ruin of eastern Ukraine from Kiev’s indiscriminate shelling of civilians in the east since July?

Ban Ki-Moon: 2.4 Billion People Survive on Less Than $2 a Day

October 19, 2014 by element115
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty:
"One in every five persons in developing regions - 1.22 billion people - live on less than $1.25 a day, and 2.4 billion live on less than $2 a day. Since the beginning of the financial crisis, inequality has grown even more pronounced than it was already."

Shadow Facts About Shadow Government

by element115
The United States' biggest public program of the past 75 years, now outstripping the rest of the world combined, is war preparations. The routine "base" military spending, not counting spending on particular wars, is at least 10 times the war spending, or enough to totally transform the world for the better. Instead it's used to kill huge numbers of people, to make the United States less safe, and to prepare for wars that are -- without exception -- lost disastrously. Since the justification of the Soviet Union vanished, U.S. militarism has only increased. Its enemies are small, yet it does its best to enlarge them. U.S. Special Operations forces are actively, if "secretly," engaged in war or war preparations in over two-thirds of the nations on earth. U.S. troops are openly stationed in 90 percent of the nations on earth, and 100 percent of the oceans. A majority of the people in most nations on earth consider the United States the greatest threat to world peace.

The U.S. military has brought death, terror, destruction, and lasting damage to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya -- and spilling out of Libya into Mali, sparked a Sunni-Shiite civil war in Iraq that has spread to Syria, rendered Pakistan and Yemen more violent and insecure with drone strikes, and fueled violence in Somalia that has spilled across borders.

These facts are well-established, yet virtually incomprehensible to a typical U.S. news consumer.

FBI Director Warns Google and Apple "If You Don't Decrypt Phones, We'll Do It For You"

by element115
Everyone is stoked that the latest versions of iOS and Android will (finally) encrypt all the information on your smartphone by default. Except, of course, the FBI: Today, its director spent an hour attacking the companies and the very idea of encryption, even suggesting that Congress should pass a law banning the practice of default encryption.

It's of course no secret that James Comey and the FBI hate the prospect of "going dark," the idea that law enforcement simply doesn't have the technical capability to track criminals (and the average person) because of all those goddamn apps, encryption, wifi network switching, and different carriers.

"Encryption isn’t just a technical feature; it’s a marketing pitch … it’s the equivalent of a closet that can’t be opened. A safe that can’t be cracked. And my question is, at what cost?" Comey said. "Both companies [Apple and Google] are run by good people, responding to what they perceive is a market demand. But the place they are leading us is one we shouldn’t go to without careful thought and debate."

FDA actively blocking fast Ebola detection technology in America

by element115
Common sense would lead you to believe that the U.S. government would be doing everything in its power, now that Ebola has reached American shores, to combat the deadly virus. But if you assumed that, you would be mistaken.

Most people don't know that there is an Ebola screening machine; it is currently available to the U.S military, and the military is using it now. So why aren't U.S. hospitals using it? Because government guidelines prevent hospitals from doing so.

Ground zero in the battle for Ukraine: Donetsk airport

by element115
"We're protecting our Motherland."

Sergey "Knas" Knazhyev, a gray-haired fighter with a Kalashnikov rifle and a friendly smile, said he joined the fight after his home in Maryanka was destroyed by Ukrainian artillery fire. Knazhyev said he joined the fight not for money, but for an idea: "to have peace here without shelling."

When asked why the rebel forces don't lay down their arms and accept amnesty and Ukrainian rule, according to the terms of the cease-fire, his smile became a menacing glare.

"It's not right when the Ukrainian government tells people where to live and where not," he said. "I don't go to Kiev and tell them where to live."

US War on Iran Takes Bizarre Turn

by element115
It is not merely hyperbole when it is said the US created terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda or the so-called “Islamic State.” It is documented fact. The current conflict in the Middle East may appear to be a chaotic conflagration beyond the control of the United States and its many eager allies, but in reality it is the intentional, engineered creation of regional fronts in a war against Iran and its powerful arc of influence.

It is not Western policy that indirectly spurs the creation and perpetuation of terrorist organizations, but in fact, direct, intentional, unmistakable support.

U.S. officials confirmed today that Israel has been funding and training Iranian dissidents to assassinate nuclear scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear program. Washington insiders confirmed there is a close relationship between Mossad and MEK.

Why Military Intervention Will Never “Fix” the Middle East

by element115
American military interventions tend to follow a familiar pattern. The path to intervention begins when Washington decides to support one side in an ongoing conflict. Regardless of its true nature, the side Washington chooses is elevated to sainthood while the side Washington decides to attack is demonized.

No Mention of Mass Graves Near Donetsk in New UN Report on Human Rights in Ukraine

October 9, 2014 by element115
Independence supporters of southeastern Ukraine claim that the massacre was carried out by Ukraine’s National Guard fighters, who had stayed in the area since April, when Kiev launched its military operation in the region. Ukrainian authorities have denied the accusation.

On September 23, several mass graves with over 400 bodies of civilians and pro-independence fighters, apparently killed execution-style, were found northeast of the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

Twitter Agent Provocateur “Ahimla Jihada” Exposed As Fake

October 6, 2014 by element115
So who is she? First and foremost, the name “Ahimla” doesn’t exist in any language on earth. Google it. All you will get are nutters plotting to kill this phantom or results thinking you misspelled the Indian city “Shimla”.

You won’t find a single person on earth named “Ahimla”. People have all kinds of crazy names. Frank Zappa named his kids Dweezil, Moon Unit, and even —as awesome as it is— Rodan. Ving Rhames named his kid Reignbeau. Yes. Pronounced “Rainbow”. David Duchovny named his kid…well…Kyd. But the twit behind this fake Twitter account had to use the one name that just didn’t exist on planet earth. Finally, the last name “Jihada”? That really took a lot of thought.

As for the picture, herein is something very sad and a lesson in sleuthing fabricated propaganda on the internet. Bookmark the URL https://www.tineye.com/ right now. Using this website you can upload any image and it will search the internet for every instance of the image and even similar images going back for years.

'Ethnic cleansing for a better world' -- Richard Cohen says Palestinians brought the Nakba on themselves

by element115
Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen says that the Palestinians are to blame for the Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948 in which 750,000 Palestinians were expelled by or fled Zionist militias and were never allowed to return. In his new book Israel: Is It Good for the Jews? Cohen says that by resisting the Zionist movement to take their lands, the Palestinians gave the Jewish immigrants, with their “advanced culture,” no choice but to force them from their homes.

Germany's Merkel under fire over NSA scandal

October 5, 2014 by element115
A report in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper revealed that Germany's secret service shared Internet data about German citizens with the American National Security Agency (NSA).

The report showed that, for years, Germany's Bundesnachrichtendienst had monitored a key international Internet exchange point in Frankfurt, and shared the raw data about Internet users with the NSA.
