Tests of soil samples have shown no signs of nuclear activities at a site in northern Iran, a diplomat in Vienna said Tuesday.
The diplomat said the soil samples of the Lavizan military establishment showed "negative," meaning that the samples contained no traces of nuclear materials.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not commented on the results so far. But some diplomats in Vienna said the results will support Iran's claim that the razed military site, a former military research laboratory, had nothing to do with atomic- related activities.

Also, it is able to persuade people that the agenda it is pursuing is for their own good or for the betterment of society. Consequently, little resistance is offered.

The Unfeeling President

by element115
...by the novelist E.L. Doctorow ...this president does not know what death is. He hasn't the mind for it. You see him joking with the press, peering under the table for the weapons of mass destruction he can't seem to find, you see him at rallies strutting up to the stage in shirt sleeves to the roar of the carefully screened crowd, smiling and waving, triumphal, a he-man.
He does not mourn. He doesn't understand why he should mourn. He is satisfied during the course of a speech written for him to look solemn for a moment and speak of the brave young Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
...you look into his eyes and know he dissembles an emotion which he does not feel in the depths of his being because he has no capacity for it. He does not feel a personal responsibility for the 1,000 dead young men and women who wanted to be what they could be.

Persecuted, in chains, in the United States

by element115
In jails and prisons across the United States, thousands of people are detained who have never been accused of crimes. The guards treat them like criminals, and the criminals they bunk with often abuse them. They are held for months, sometimes even years, but unlike the criminals, they do not know when their sentences will end.
The Homeland Security Department, which took over immigration matters from the Immigration and Naturalization Service 18 months ago, says it detains only those who pose a security threat or who intend to disappear. But there are countless cases of asylum seekers who are detained even when they clearly pose no risk, have friends or relatives in America who will post bond, and are unlikely to skip out on their asylum hearings. They include Tibetan nuns, religious minorities from Africa, an Afghan woman persecuted by the Taliban for running a girls' school, Ukrainian grass-roots activists and others. These people are often the most noble in their society. They come here chasing America's promised liberty, and they end up in chains.

BBC Video: Dead In The Water

by element115
During the Six-Day War, Israel attacked and nearly sank the USS Liberty belonging to its closest ally, the USA. Thirty-four American servicemen were killed in the two-hour assault by Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats.
Israel claimed that the whole affair had been a tragic accident based on mistaken identification of the ship. The American government accepted the explanation.
For more than 30 years many people have disbelieved the official explanation but have been unable to rebut it convincingly. Now, Dead in the Water uses startling new evidence to reveal the truth behind the seemingly inexplicable attack. The film combines dramatic reconstruction of the events, with new access to former officers in the US and Israeli armed forces and intelligence services who have decided to give their own version of events.
Interviews include President Lyndon Johnson's Secretary of Defence Robert McNamara, former head of the Israeli navy Admiral Shlomo Errell and members of the USS Liberty crew.

70% Of America Is Confused By George W. Bush Lies

by element115
How many times have you told your children that not telling the truth is the same as telling a lie? Should George W. Bush be held to a lower standard than your children when it comes to telling the Truth? Is it right for the President of the United States to let this lie live on simply because it will cause many voters to cast their ballots for George W. Bush in November based on this lie? Would you not punish your children for not coming out and telling the truth? Shouldn?t the voters punish George W. Bush as they would their own children by not voting for him because he is not telling the truth? These are some of the questions American voters should be asking themselves before casting their vote for President of the United States

A Draft After the Elections?

by element115
While President Bush has thus far never said whether or not he would bring back the draft (Sen. John Kerry stated that he opposed a draft on Sept. 22, 2004 in West Palm Beach, Fla.), there are increasing rumors and speculation that it will be reinstated after the election, perhaps as soon as 2005. There is no hard evidence that this is so nor that it is imminent, but lots of people on both sides of the political aisle are rightly concerned.

Yet the reign of the lie goes on, rolling toward its final entrenchment in November.

Illegal Orders give the US a Lock on Iraq's Economy

These little noticed orders enacted by Bremer, the now-departed head of the now-defunct Coalition Provisional Authority, go to the heart of Bush administration plans in Iraq. They lock in sweeping advantages to American firms, ensuring long-term U.S. economic advantage while guaranteeing few, if any, benefits to the Iraqi people.

Ashcroft Continues to Seek New Powers

by element115
The latest proposed legislation -- "Tools to Fight Terrorism Act of 2004" (S. 2679) -- would increase the government's powers to secretly obtain personal records without judicial review and limit judicial discretion over the use of secret evidence in criminal cases. It would also eliminate important foreign intelligence wiretapping safeguards and allow the use of secret intelligence wiretaps in immigration cases without notice or an opportunity to suppress illegally acquired evidence.
The legislation would also grant the Department of Justice expanded administrative subpoena power -- the authority to seize records and compel testimony in terrorism cases without prior review by a court or grand jury. This would erode already diminished judicial oversight, and would allow access to confidential records without individual suspicion of wrongdoing.
Furthermore, this legislation would expand the use of the death penalty -- a step that would hurt efforts to coordinate anti-terrorism activities and extraditions with those countries that oppose capital punishment.

The Administration claims to have been blind-sided by the abuse of prisoners in Iraq. In May 2004, Bush told Arab television that he believes the abuse to be "a serious matter which we will fully investigate." The White House was aware of problems in Iraqi prisons for six months, yet did nothing.

Neo-Con Spies II

by element115
The strangest thing in the scandal of spying for Israel is the existence of a scandal in the first place; the people involved in it have been accused of spying for Israel for decades. The scandal is that they are allowed to be in key positions within the U.S. administration, after having been subject to investigations that are exactly like the current one, concerning the accusation of leaking secret information to Israel.

US loses war games in simulated conflict with Iran

by element115
US spy agencies have played out "war games" to consider possible pre-emptive strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, and concluded that strikes would not resolve Washington's standoff with Tehran, Newsweek magazine reported on Sunday.
"The war games were unsuccessful at preventing the conflict from escalating," an unnamed air force source told the magazine in its latest issue.

The Voice of the White House

by element115
This afternoon, while schmoozing a minor aide, I saw a copy of a Pentagon memo concerning the forthcoming draft. I could not copy this and it took me about twenty minutes, in brief segments, to read it through. The White House and the Pentagon have worked out a plan to call up all reservists and National Guard units if and when Bush is reelected. The moment that the election results are poured in concrete, orders, now drawn up and waiting, will be issued throughout the United States. I am not speaking of a few units but all US Guard and Reserve units. On the same subject, the pending Universal Draft is also a done deal. Everything is place awaiting the President?s signature. This is planned for June of 2005 and contains some real shockers. Women will be called up as well as men. There will be absolutely no deferments of any kind permitted. Persons with medical problems such as diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, chronic asthma, physical deformities such as a club foot or hunch back, vision problems, etc. will be called up! If a draftee has a medical problem but can move around, they are subject to the draft but will be assigned to non-military positions such as clerk-typists, maintenance positions and so on. There will be absolutely no deferments for someone with a family to support or who is enrolled in any kind of a school. Students may be permitted to complete their semester and will then be compelled to report at once to their nearest enlistment center

The Lynching of Dan Rather

by element115
"It's that fear that keeps journalists from asking the toughest of the tough questions," the aging American journalist told the British television audience.
In June 2002, Dan Rather looked old, defeated, making a confession he dare not speak on American TV about the deadly censorship -- and self-censorship -- which had seized U.S. newsrooms. After September 11, news on the U.S. tube was bound and gagged. Any reporter who stepped out of line, he said, would be professionally lynched as un-American.

Haaretz : U.S. to sell Israel 5,000 smart bombs

by element115
The funding will come from the U.S. military aid to Israel, and the bombs range from airborne versions, guidance units, training bombs and detonators. The bombs are guided by satellite, in a system already in the Israel Defense Forces arsenal. The guidance unit receives a signal from a satellite, correcting the bomb's course to the target.
The Pentagon told Congress that the bombs are meant to maintain Israel's qualitative advantage, and advance U.S. strategic and tactical interests.

Der Spiegel: The US Is Arming Israel Against Iran

by element115
"These are not weapons, which can be used at the Palestinian front. Security sources report that Israel could use the "Bunker Breakers" against Iran or possibly Syria, thereby confirming a report in the newspaper "Haaretz". Neither the US Embassy in Israel nor the Israeli Ministry of Defense were willing to comment. "Bunker Breakers" are bombs which weight about one ton, are able to penetrate deep into the ground and to pierce up to two meter thick concrete walls. These could possibly enable Israel to destroy Iranian underground atomic plants.
From Israeli government circles it was reported that the arms deal went through without any political difficulties.

So Far, You Can Fool Most of the People Most of the Time

by element115
The Bush administration has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,000 U.S. service personnel, the wounding of 7,000 more and the deaths of perhaps 10,000 Iraqis (a crude estimate because the Pentagon refuses to release figures) in an unneeded war that was sold on false pretenses. If a war is unnecessary, then the perpetrators must assume responsibility for even unintended casualties and destruction (what the U.S. military euphemistically calls "collateral damage") and horrific excesses, such as the Abu Ghraib prison abuses.
And the ever-gullible American voter is apparently willing to believe Bush.

Bush Links Democracy, Human Rights To Global Security

by element115
U.S. President George W. Bush has urged UN members to support U.S.-led efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, saying they are crucial to the spread of democracy and stability in the world. Bush also defended the U.S. invasion of Iraq as justified by Security Council resolutions. But the president's speech focused on broader initiatives on welfare and human rights. Moments earlier, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan told the assembly that what he called a "shameless disregard" for rule of law had become widespread.

Why Americans back the war

by element115
In the United States, an uneasy electorate keeps its distance from all of this. Polls show that most Americans maintain faith in the Bush administration's handling of the war, while others greet reports of the disasters more with resignation than passionate opposition. To the mounting horror of the world, the United States of America is relentlessly bringing about the systematic destruction of a small, unthreatening nation for no good reason. Why has this not gripped the conscience of this country?

Baghdad Year Zero

September 20, 2004 by element115
Torturers believe that when electrical shocks are applied to various parts of the body simultaneously subjects are rendered so confused about where the pain is coming from that they become incapable of resistance. A declassified CIA "Counterintelligence Interrogation" manual from 1963 describes how a trauma inflicted on prisoners opens up "an interval ? which may be extremely brief - of suspended animation, a kind of psychological shock or paralysis ... At this moment the source is far more open to suggestion, far likelier to comply." A similar theory applies to economic shock therapy, or "shock treatment," the ugly term used to describe the rapid implementation of free-market reforms imposed on Chile in the wake of General Augusto Pinochet's coup. The theory is that if painful economic "adjustments" are brought in rapidly and in the aftermath of a seismic social disruption like a war, a coup, or a government collapse, the population will be so stunned, and so preoccupied with the daily pressures of survival, that it too will go into suspended animation, unable to resist. As Pinochet's finance minister, Admiral Lorenzo Gotuzzo, declared, "The dog's tail must be cut off in one chop."

Is there a connection between Bush and the makers of the electronic voting machines?

by element115
Election Systems & Software (ES&S), Diebold, and Sequoia, are the companies that are making and distributing the new electronic voting machines. These machines are being programmed by a man who some have suggested has a significant number of legal entanglements.
The machines are programmed with two sets of books and no paper trail. With the use of a two digit code, the election committees can change the voting tallies in favor of one candidate. For example, if a majority voted is for Kerry, enter the two digit code and all the votes go to Bush.

US runs low on soldiers

A draft would apply to all males between 19 and 25.
Recruits would be chosen by a national lottery, starting with 19-year-olds and working up. Following a 1981 Supreme Court decision women are exempt, although this could change.
Despite official claims that a draft isn't contemplated, there is growing concern at the grassroots.

The US military said..."a successful precision strike on a confirmed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi terrorist meeting site".
.....In one ward, Fatima Taha Shneiter, 8, lay on a bed, her hair and clothes covered in mud, maimed for life. A large area of flesh below her right knee was missing and the bone protruded. She moaned, repeating the words "There is no Allah but Allah" over and over again in her pain.
"I was running away with my mother to hide from the bombing and they hit us," she cried. "A man grabbed me and my brother and sister and threw us into the little spring to protect us, and the helicopters hit us then. The man protected us, but he was killed and all of us were injured."
She did not yet know that much of her extended family had been wiped out, including her father Taha Shneiter and at least three of her uncles. Her mother Jinan and sister Shaimaa, 6, were in a coma. Only her youngest brother Mohamed, 4, escaped injury.

Israeli intelligence helped creating the fake Iraqi threat

US aircrafts hysterically bomb village, massacring at least 44 Iraqi villagers.

by element115
American F-16 and F-18 fighter bombers as well as Apache helicopters carried out continuous and hysterical bombing from 3:30am until 5:00am local time Friday morning of the Ridwaniyat Zawbi? area in the village of Zaydan, 20km south of al-Fallujah. The area is home to members of the Zawbi? tribe. The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the American aircraft dumped more than 14 massive anti-personnel container bombs as well as napalm on the rural community. Each container bomb consists of about 2,000 bomblets that blast apart near the ground to kill any and all living things.
Forty-four Iraqi civilians were massacred in the savage American bombing at last count, but the figure was expected to rise considerably in view of the massive scale of the damage inflicted on the little village. Of those, 15 of the dead were children, 10 women, and nine were elderly persons. Seven children are in critical condition, and eight women and five men were also wounded.

America and the Global Ruling Class

by element115
When they call for a 'New World Order,' these bizarre agents of death and change, what they mean is always a lot different than the idea they manage to project into people's heads. Since Poppy Bush said it a bunch of times during his presidential term, they kind of stopped using it. In its place has come the subtle and friendly sounding 'Globalization.' The result is the same, as we said before, continuing, cementing and wielding of Global ruling class power that has gone on in the West for hundreds of years. All in the name of 'free markets' nationhood is compromised and governments are subverted to allow for wealthy multi-national corporations to prey on the residents and the land. Always the forces of the elite are the same, the money and the bank.
