G20 reporters filed complaints to police watchdog

by element115
According to Miller's complaint --> "So you think you're a journalist. You won't be a journalist after we bring you to jail," the 29-year-old recounted an officer saying to her in her complaint. "You're going to be raped. We always like the pretty ones. We're going to wipe the grin off your face when we gang bang you. We know how the Montreal girls roll."

According to Rosenfeld's complaint --> grabbed by two officers, punched in the stomach and back and repeatedly kneed in the ribs. He yelled to them that he was not resisting arrest and that he was a journalist. He was arrested for breach of the peace and taken to the detention centre in the city's east end at midnight where he stayed until his release 18 hours later with no charges.

According to Lisa Walter's complaint --> officers mocked her, saying her credentials were "fake," questioned whether she was a man and the sergeant who ordered her arrest called her a "f---ing dyke" and "a douche bag." Her medication was withheld from her for several hours.

Police mislead public on security fence law

by element115
Toronto's police chief is admitting there never was a five-meter rule that had people fearing arrest if they strayed too close to the G20 security perimeter.

All weekend there were reports of police stopping people throughout downtown Toronto -- often in areas nowhere near the G20 zone -- demanding identification and to search bags and backpacks.

Ontario won't call public inquiry into G20 chaos

by element115
..."no inquiry is needed"

But Ontario’s New Democrats say there are “far more questions than there are answers”.

“It’s unbelievable so many crimes could be committed in the presence of so many police officers,” said New Democrat MPP and justice critic Peter Kormos, referring to the “black bloc” protesters who ran amok despite a security tab of almost $1 billion.

An inquiry should make Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair “come clean” on what went wrong, Kormos added. “Who was calling the shots?”

Freed G20 Detainees Speak

by element115
When the women requested water, Robichaud says an officer within earshot replied, "prisoners don't get water, prisoners don't get air—keep that door closed."

The group's accounts of conditions inside the detention center are ones of austerity, antagonism, suffering, confusion, and disorganization.

We were fed water and given stale buns with margarine and 1 slice of processed cheese only after begging, and pleading for it. Almost everyone I spoke to was DENIED their phone call. I have badge numbers of police officers who denied our phone calls, denied us the use of bathroom facilities and even denied giving us their badge numbers.

Undercover Police engaged in Purposeful Provocation

by element115
Toronto is right now in the midst of a massive government / media propaganda fraud. As events unfold, it is becoming increasingly clear that the 'Black Bloc' are undercover police operatives engaged in purposeful provocations to eclipse and invalidate legitimate G20 citizen protest by starting a riot. Government agents have been caught doing this before in Canada.

by element115
Rosenfeld describes the confrontation as follows: “An officer came up to me, looked at my ID, my alternative media centre press pass and said: ‘This isn’t a legitimate press pass. Put him under arrest!’”

According to the freelancer, at that point he “was immediately jumped and beaten” as the same “officer grabbed my arm, ripped it behind my back.”

“I was punched in the stomach to make me go down to the ground. I was being hit in the ribs.”

“All the time I was saying ‘I am not resisting arrest. I am a journalist. Why are you beating me?’”

The attack was witnessed firsthand by several observers, including Steve Paikin, the well-known broadcaster and author, and host of the nightly TV Ontario news programme, The Agenda.

Police Provocateur Wrecks Cruiser              G8/G20 Toronto

On June 26 around 17h15 a police provocateur wrecks one of two cruisers parked by the police at Queen just east of Spadina. The drivers of the cruisers were escorted away by riot cops. The cruiser that was eventually burned was parked on a spot that police had previously demarcated with orange pylons ! Police were within 100 yards of the cruiser and there were no anarchists present. The police provocateur fled when confronted by two peaceful protesters who questioned his actions.

The Reality Of Zionism

by element115
The accusation of ‘The Jews being scapegoated again’ is not only tiresome, but pathetic. In fact, it is not only pathetic, but pathologically disturbed, and clinically insane, as evidenced by the recent suicide (murder?) of Netanyahu’s psychiatrist who simply couldn’t take the Zionist rhetoric and propaganda anymore.
Anybody who is cognizant of the Palestinian plight, and who is educated about Zionism, does not need to hear the equally tiresome discourse of criticism of Israel, or Zionism, or Zionist organizations is tantamount to an attack on the Jews. Israel Shahak (RIP), Ilan Pappe, Joel Kovel, Gilad Atzmon, Michael Hoffman, Norman Finklestein, and Stephen Lendman all vehemently criticize Israel, Zionism, Zionist organizations, and Israeli policies, and they are all Jewish, some are also Israeli. Anti-Zionism does not equal Anti-Semitism, and the repetition of this is getting as old as the accusation itself. Anyone that charges a critic of Israel with anti-Semitism is simply displaying an exuberant amount of cowardice, lack of knowledge, and subservience to the Zionist entity.

Who Does Israel Get Oil From?

by element115
Last month the Swiss foreign minister visited Iran and, together with President Ahmadinejad, attended the signing of a multi-billion euro contract for Iran to supply Switzerland with large amounts of natural gas over the next 25 years.
The US State Department immediately condemned the deal and said it would be investigating whether it breached the Iran Sanctions Act. Israel complained too, describing the Swiss minister's visit to Tehran as an "act unfriendly to Israel". Various Jewish groups also joined in the protests, including the World Jewish Congress.
This righteous indignation was entirely predictable but more than a little odd nevertheless. On March 30, the Swiss newspaper Sonntag retaliated with the revelation that Israel, supposedly observing an ironclad boycott of all things Iranian, has been buying Iranian oil for years.

BP Had the Technology to Accurately Measure Amount of Oil Leaking into the Gulf 2 Years Ago

The reason BP does not want the true flow known, is that it would require them to pay the "legitimate" fines and royalties they owe on what is extracted, regardless of whether it is ever recovered. As of mid-June their violations of the Clean Water Act alone are around $10B.

The reason no other oil driller wants it known, is that they may own the next blowout and will also want to conceal their true obligations.

Israel’s “self-defense” narrative falls apart

by element115
On May 31, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the actions of IDF soldiers who had conducted the raid on the Mavi Marmara, killing at least nine of its passengers, as “a clear case of self-defense because as our soldiers were inspecting these ships, they were attacked – they were almost lynched. They were attacked with clubs, with knives, perhaps with live gunfire, and they had to defend themselves – they were going to be killed.”

That was before video emerged appearing to show two Israeli soldiers first pummeling with their boots and then shooting one of the victims as he lay at their feet. To stand above an injured man and then finish him off with rounds from an assault rifle can by no ones estimation be described as an act of self-defense.

Was the Obama Administration involved in the Planning of the Israeli Attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla?

by element115
There are indications that the US was consulted at the highest levels regarding the nature of this military operation.

Rahm Emmanuel, Obama's White House chief of Staff was in Tel Aviv a week prior to the attacks. Confirmed by press reports, he had meetings behind closed doors with Prime Minister Netanyahu (May 26) as well as a private visit with President Shimon Peres on May 27.
The Israeli press confirmed that Rahm Emmanuel had a meeting with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, whose Ministry was responsible for overseeing the Commando attack on the Flotilla.

While born in the US, Rahm Emmanuel also holds Israeli citizenship and has served in the Israeli military during the First Gulf War.

Helen Thomas resigned? Nothing surprising here

by element115
Last week, during a briefing with White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, Thomas’ criticized the American reaction to the deadly Israeli raid of a humanitarian aid convoy, saying that “our initial reaction to this flotilla massacre, deliberate massacre, an international crime, was pitiful.”

“What do you mean you ‘regret’ when something should be so strongly condemned? And if any other nation in the world had done it, we would have been up in arms. What is this sacrosanct, iron-clad relationship, where a country that deliberately kills people?” Thomas had said.

In a recently uploaded Youtube video, Thomas can be heard saying that Israel “should get the hell out of Palestine.”

B’nai B’rith International President Dennis W. Glick said --> “There should be no place for her in a news organization. Her comments go beyond commentary and land well in the camp that will stop at nothing to delegitimize Israel.”

Bravo! Helen Thomas. Best wishes for a long and happy retirement.

Jewish Ideology and World Peace

by element115
by Gilad Atzmon
" …then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy.” (Deuteronomy 7:1-2)

"…do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them…as the Lord your God has commanded you…” (Deuteronomy 20:16)

Israel is a murderous society not because of any biological or racial lineage with its imaginary ‘forefathers’. Israel is deadly because it is driven by a fanatical tribal Jewish ideology and fueled by a psychotic merciless Biblical poisonous enthusiasm.

The Jewish State is beyond the law. It doesn’t follow any recognised universal value system either. In recent years Israel flattened Lebanon (2006) and left more than 3000 civilians dead, it managed to shell an UNRWA shelter with white phosphorus (2009) and left Gaza with 1500 fatalities most of them women, children and elders, earlier this year it assassinated in Dubai using forged foreign passports, last week we saw the Kosher navy slaughter peace activists in international waters.

Has Israel declared war on the international community?

by element115
In the West, we have become accustomed to the propaganda machine of the Israeli government filling the global airwaves with fabrications, defamations and outright lies following each crime committed, each violation of international law. Like the Israeli military, the Israeli propaganda apparatus is highly sophisticated. Nevertheless, this latest act seems like a challenge to the world, and I am not sure whether propaganda can bury it. Perhaps, in the West, we have become immune to the daily deaths of Palestinians, or to the tragic death of a Western nonviolent peace advocate shot by the Israeli Defense Forces while in Palestinian territory. I do not think however, that people from around the globe can tolerate Israel’s interception of a peaceful convoy in international waters, with its subsequent shootings and killings of citizens from many different nationalities. Parliamentarians, Nobel laureates, spiritual leaders, humanitarian aid workers, and journalists amongst others, forced to endure the terror inflicted upon them by lethal Israeli military commandos.

New aid ship heads to Gaza, Israel vows to stop it

Irish Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead McGuire and the former head of the U.N. Oil-for-Food program in Iraq, Denis Halliday, are among the 11 passengers on board, she said.

Israeli ambassador calls raid "responsible"

by element115
Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to the United States, called his country's raid on an aid flotilla en route to Gaza "perfectly legal, perfectly humane and very responsible" in an interview Tuesday with Fox News.

Oren likened the attack to that of the US in World War II.

"The US acted under similar international law when it fought the Germans and the Japanese in World War Two," the ambassador said.

Not in My Jewish Name

by element115
By Rob Kall
I am a Jew and I am outraged and ashamed by the acts Israel has perpetrated. I am not a self hating Jew, not an anti-semite, as some religious extremist Jews have accused me and other Jews who criticize Israel.

I am a Jew who knows right from wrong, who can see that the band of evil idiots in Israel who are making decisions are doing the wrong thing, doing things that are bad for the Jewish people. I stand up now declaring that Israel does not act in my name. AIPAC, the lobbying group for Israel does not act in my name.

I was ashamed and outraged when Israel attacked Gaza, killing over 1000 innocents. I told my son it would be like him throwing a balled up peice of paper at me and me coming back with a hammer smashing him in the head and face repeatedly.

The Massacre and the Cover-Up

by element115
Only days after Amnesty International issued a report condemning Western powers for their record of blocking international diplomatic action against Israel, the results of this criminal facilitation were once again on dramatic display. By violently seizing the Free Gaza flotilla in the early hours of May 31, Israel has provided a brazen reminder of what kind of policies are being underwritten by its international allies.

Israeli International Aggression: White House Thumbs Up To State Terror and Murder

by element115
Here it comes – the White House whitewash of Israel’s bloodied hands – an odious act of complicity that flouts international law and sets the scene for more state terrorism and murder of civilians.

After days of conspicuous US absence from joining the rest of the world in unequivocally condemning Israel over its killing of civilians onboard the international convoy bringing humanitarian aid to the desperate people of Gaza, we now have the nauseating sight and sound of Washington defending the indefensible.

Activists were also taken to prison without being formally charged, he added.

Israel on Tuesday night rejected international calls to end its naval blockade of Gaza and to launch an “independent” investigation into the death of at least nine activists during an IDF raid of the Mavi Marmara passenger ship, which was part of a flotilla that aimed to break that closure.

“It’s important to understand that this [blockade] is essential to protect Israel’s security and its right to defend itself,” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told a special meeting of the diplomatic-security cabinet in Jerusalem.

"There were sound and smoke bombs and later they used gas bombs. Following the bombings they started to come on board from helicopters."

What does Israel fear from media coverage?

June 1, 2010 by element115
Isn't it strange how Plucky, Democratic Israel goes to such extreme lengths to prevent any media coverage of what they do, any journalistic interference with their propaganda machine, in light of the fact that -- as always -- They Did Absolutely Nothing Wrong? Is physically blocking the media from covering what happens the act of a government that is in the right?

Flotilla raid passengers tell of violent attacks

by element115
She said Israeli vessels “harassed” the flotilla for two hours starting around 10 pm Sunday, and returned at around 4 am yesterday, fired warning shots and told the ships to turn back.

“When the Mavi Marmara continued on its course the harassment turned into an attack. They used smoke bombs followed by gas canisters. They started to descend onto the ship with helicopters,” she said, calling the clashes that then erupted “extremely bad and brutal.”

“They came up and used plastic bullets, we had beatings, we had electric shocks, any method we can think of, they used,” he said.

He said the boat’s captain was beaten for refusing to leave the wheel, and had sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while a cameraman filming the raid was hit with a rifle butt in the eye,“ he said. ”Of course we weren’t prepared for a situation of war.“

America's Complicity in Evil

by element115
Obama's pretense at ignorance confirms his complicity.

Once again the US government has permitted the Israeli state to murder good people known for their moral conscience. The Israeli state has declared that anyone with a moral conscience is an enemy of Israel, and every American president except Eisenhower and Carter has agreed.

Obama's 12-hour silence in the face of extreme barbarity is his signal to the controlled corporate media to remain on the sidelines until Israeli propaganda sets the story.

Israel's rogue behaviour

by element115
Tuesday's attack on an unarmed, humanitarian flotilla of activists carrying relief supplies for the besieged and blockaded people of Gaza is a reminder to the world of the lawless, outlaw nature of the Israeli state.

The boats, their passengers, and cargo have all been illegally detained. Among those locked up by the Israelis are a number of journalists from around the world who had joined the flotilla to cover the story. The criminal Israeli response to what was intended to be a Gandhian act of solidarity with the Palestinian people is the product of the international community's failure to ensure that Tel Aviv's illegal and immoral blockade of Gaza was lifted.

The Legal Position on the Israeli Attack

by element115
There are therefore two clear legal possibilities.

Possibility one is that the Israeli commandos were acting on behalf of the government of Israel in killing the activists on the ships. In that case Israel is in a position of war with Turkey, and the act falls under international jurisdiction as a war crime.

Possibility two is that, if the killings were not authorised Israeli military action, they were acts of murder under Turkish jurisdiction. If Israel does not consider itself in a position of war with Turkey, then it must hand over the commandos involved for trial in Turkey under Turkish law.

Israeli Advance Target Assassination List Found on Flotilla

by element115
Turkish sources and media revealed a document which shows that a death list had been prepared in advance by the Israelis, showing names and pictures of people on board of the ships to be murdered, who, according to Israel, were “involved in the International humanitarian aid for Gaza”. According to the Turkish sources, hundreds of Israeli soldiers stormed the blue Turkish ship “Marmara” flotilla and they had copies of the death list. The list included the names of civilians on the fleet who should be killed”. The document was apparently recovered after one of the Israeli soldiers lost it during the piracy act.

Israeli butchery at sea

by element115
For days the Israeli government has been preparing the Israeli public for the massacre at sea. It said that the flotilla carried weapons and that it had “terrorists” on board. Only yesterday evening it occurred to me that this malicious Israeli media spin was there to prepare the Israeli public for a full scale deadly military operation in international waters. Make no mistake about it: if I knew exactly where Israel was heading and the possible consequences, the Israeli cabinet and military elite were fully aware of it all the way along. What happened yesterday wasn’t just a pirate terrorist attack. It was actually murder in broad day light, even though it happened in the dark.

Gaza Aid Flotilla: Israel Will Once Again Get Away with Murder

by element115
The Israeli military killed 34 and wounded 171 crew members aboard the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967, during the Arab-Israeli war and suffered no consequence. Israel said it had confused the intelligence ship for an Egyptian vessel. Many intelligence and military officials dispute Israel’s explanation, but that does not matter. Israel has a carte blanche to murder at will. It is almost completely irrelevant when nations and aggrieved parties complain.

World Watches Raid on Relief Flotilla as Israel’s PR Machine Flails

Many of us watching the live feeds from Turkish TV heard the announcement of the captains decision to shift his course shortly after the Israeli warships made initial contact when the flotilla was still 100 miles off the coast. We then saw the passengers take off their life vests and relax after the initial preparations made with the first Israeli radio message. We thought that things would be calm overnight. We were oh so wrong.

Israel: The Pariah of the International Community

by element115
What Israel has to understand is that to be accepted as a member of the international community, it has to act like one and this involves abiding by UN Resolutions, it means not only halting the building of colonies on land which has been stolen from Palestinians, it involves dismantling each and every colony set up on land outside the original borders of Israel.

Does Israel Rule the World?

by element115
Why are so many nations bending to Israel's will or staying silent on its crimes? What is it about this minuscule country that enables it to have so much control on decisions made by larger and more powerful nations? It refuses to abide by international laws and treaties. It illegally occupies great swathes of Palestinian land and it's imposing an illegal blockade on Gaza. Moreover, it is the only country that could get away with assassinating its enemies on foreign soil.

If any other country or territory with a smaller population than New York behaved as outrageously as Israel, it would be isolated, boycotted and, perhaps, even invaded. Yet, Israel gets away with ignoring a long list of UN Security Council resolutions — as opposed to Saddam's Iraq, which was invaded, plundered and occupied on those same grounds.

What if Iran had carried out the Gaza carnage?

by element115
Although it's practically unthinkable, try to replace Iran and Israel, imagining for a single moment that Iran is the occupying state that kills at least two foreign civilians a day, beleaguers some 1.5 million people who don't have any access to the barest rudiments of their daily life and live under the continual threats of military assault and are in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Would the so-called international community tolerate it? Would the UN Secretary General suffice to a simple "expression of concern" with regards to such an incessant viciousness, if it had not been Israel?

To be honest with ourselves, Israel is enjoying an unconditional impunity from all of the international rules, laws and regulations and acts like an autonomous state which does not come in terms with any obligation and responsibility. After the dissolution of South Africa's apartheid regime, which was recently revealed to have had a nuclear deal with Tel Aviv in 1957, Israel is the only apartheid entity which remains on the face of the world map and the unyielding supports of the superpowers holds up this flimsy existence at any rate.
